Sudden Market sees you trying to pick up your groceries after hours, and security wants you OUT. Better rush through your list as fast as you can.
You play as the worst type of person: someone with a long list of things they need who sneaks into a store when it’s pretty much closed. I have met many people like this while working retail over the years, and I hate you. Unlike most of my retail experiences, though, the people in charge aren’t just going to let you wander the store and keep all the staff there for an extra half hour or more. These people want you out, and will chase you down to get you out of the store if they find you.
Your job is to find a bunch of stuff in the store and complete your shopping without being ejected. To do that, you’ll need to follow your list. As for why you need nine bottles of ketchup and six containers of bleach, I’d rather not know. All you need to know is that you need to hurry your cart down the aisles to get those things. Now, that’s not easy while you’re being chased by guards (who keep growing more persistent and fast), but you can pick up some special products to give yourself a boost of speed or help you bash things out of your way. Going for these might be worth the risk, letting you fly through the store a bit quicker to grab what you need.
Sudden Market is exhilarating (maybe that’s why those last-minute dinks always came into the store so late), and also a bit scary. Seeing a security guard barreling toward you feels like it’s going to stop your heart even if it’s just stopping you from picking up some soup tonight. Overall, though, it’s wild, fun, and just the right amount of stressful and scary.
Sudden Market is available now on Steam.
